Q: Are the medallions shipped in one piece or several pieces? [top]
A: The medallions are usually shipped in one piece and are reinforced with fiberglass on the back and crated vertically. If needed, you may also request the medallion to be shipped in sections.

Q: What options do I have if we can’t wait 4-6 weeks for fabrication? [top]
A: You can always select from our inventory of medallions and borders. The items are in stock and are ready to ship within a week.

Q: Is there a minimum order for borders and corners? [top]
A: Yes, Stoneworks has a 20 border minimum per order. If only ordering corners, we have a 16 corner minimum. Customers who need to order quantities under the minimum are recommended to select from our inventory.

Q: What is antiquing and can I mix polished and antiqued in the same medallion? [top]
A: Antiquing is the process of sandblasting the surface of the medallion or border. This technique gives the surface a tumbled old world look. Sections of the medallion can not be isolated in the sanblasting process, so mixing finishes in the same surface is not possible.

Q: Is there an extra charge for antiquing? [top]
A: There is no extra charge for antiquing medallions that are fabricated. A charge will apply for antiquing borders, corners and medallions from stock. Please call our office at (800) 992-1167 for charges.

Q: Can we modify the designs and is there a charge? [top]
A: Stoneworks is open to any changes to their patterns. Any design changes or additions will be charged per hour of programming time. Contact one of our sales associates to discuss details.

Q: Is the customer able to order a medallion or border using any other material beside the available options? [top]
A: Yes, if Stoneworks does not have your selection in stone the customer is able to provide the material needed for your medallion or border. Keep in mind that for medallions we will need 3/4" material and for borders and cormers 3/8" tile.

It is highly recommended a sample is sent to our office for testing.

Q: Are medallions safe and easy to handle? [top]
A: Yes, They are fabricated in one solid piece. Fiberglass is added to the back for additional support. The medallion can be set in place like any other tile and can be handled vertically or horizontally.

Q: How is the difference in thickness between field tile and medallion handled? [top]
A: The first option is to grind down the concrete base where the medallion will be set to allow enough depth so tile and medallion can rest leveled. Another option is to float the rest of the floor to the level of the medallion.

Q: Can Stoneworks create customers design or company logos? [top]
A: Yes, depending on the amount of detail, Stoneworks can create different designs. Fax a copy or e-mail the design to us for pricing. We will also need a signed approval from the designer or copyright owner to recreate the image on marble.

Q: What is the difference between the Standard stone pallete and the Specialty palette? [top]
A: The Standard palette will provide you with a variety of stone selection both in granites and marbles for you to choose from. The price of the medallion will not vary if you use any of the Standard colors. The specialty palette includes a variety of semi-precious stones. Price of the medallion will be calculated based on the amount of square feet of specialty stone used.

Q: How are medallions shipped? [top]
A: The medallions are shipped in very durable wooden crates. These crates are manufactured in a way so that the medallion is shipped vertically and can be moved easily with a palette jack or a forklift. The price of the crate is based on the dimension of the medallion.

Q: How consistent is the stone to your color palette? [top]
A: Stone is a product of nature and can vary in color, markings and texture. The colors you see on screen are actual scanned images of the stones but each monitor will create variations on color and contrast. We are able to mail you samples of the actual stones when ordering a medallion or border.

Q: What methods of payment do you accept? [top]
A: You can pay with a check, money order or credit card. We will require a 50% deposit to start production and the remaining 50% prior to shipping or pick-up.
